Here is the lineup used for the 70th Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, which took place in 1996.

Summary[]

Macy's managed to pull off another successful Parade in 1996, which was the Parade's 70th anniversary. The new balloons were Rocky and Bullwinkle, paired up with his partner Rocky the Flying Squirrel, and Peter Rabbit, the star of the books by Beatrix Potter. Other Parade favorites such as Big Bird, Sonic the Hedgehog, Woody Woodpecker, Garfield, Spider-Man, Betty Boop, Quik Bunny, and The Pink Panther would strut their stuff down the line of march. To help spice up the occasion, guest stars such as Bo Diddley, Kenny Rogers, Lea Thompson, the Sesame Street Muppets, Elayne Boosler, Liz Torres, and the Rockettes came to perform for the spectators. Calm weather made handling the balloons relatively easy, though Woody Woodpecker suffered a hand-wound. And as expected, Santa Claus ended off the Parade on his sleigh, marking the start of the Christmas season. Despite the Freezing Temperatures, The parade was still a success
